Job summary

Johns Hopkins Medicine is seeking a Registered Nurse for the Observation Unit at Johns Hopkins Howard County Medical Center in Columbia, MD. The role coordinates care for assigned patients on a 12-hour night shift (7:00 PM–7:30 AM) with 36 hours per week, delivering evidence-based nursing care and collaborating with a multidisciplinary team.

The RN must hold an ADN with a BSN preferred, a current RN license, CPR certification, and a minimum of six months nursing experience.

Qualifications

  • ADN required; BSN preferred and ADN holders must matriculate to BSN.
  • RN license required upon hire.
  • CPR certification required upon hire.
  • Minimum six months of nursing experience.

Responsibilities

  • Coordinate care for assigned patients on a shift to promote clinical outcomes.
  • Provide direction to team members to promote quality, safety and excellence in care.
  • Provide evidence-based care based on nursing process, policies, procedures and protocols.
  • Work with a multidisciplinary team to optimize patient outcomes.
  • Participate in quality improvement and responsible cost-effective use of resources.

Unit/Role Info:

Observation Unit

The Registered Nurse coordinates care for assigned patients on a shift to promote the achievement of clinical outcomes. Provides direction to other team members to promote quality, safety, and excellence in care. Provides evidence-based practice care based on the nursing process policy, procedures, and protocols. Works collaboratively with a multidisciplinary health care team to optimize patient care outcomes. Participates and promotes quality clinical improvement by supporting standards within a given care setting. Practices and promotes responsible cost effective use of resources. Completes all identified annual requirements and competencies for the patient population, care setting, department, and institution. Participates in the performance appraisal process. Demonstrates organizations core values on a consistent basis.

Qualifications:
  • Associate's Degree in nursing (ADN) (Required)
  • Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) (Preferred) and
  • Applicants with an associate degree in nursing will be considered. Per nursing guidelines, must matriculate into a Bachelor of Nursing program.
  • RN - Registered Nurse Upon Hire (Required)
  • CPR - Basic CPR Upon Hire (Required)
  • Minimum six (6) months of nursing experience required.

Salary Range: Minimum $37.13/hour - Maximum $52.68/hour. Compensation will be commensurate with equity and experience for roles of similar scope and responsibility. In cases where the range is displayed as a $0 amount, salary discussions will occur during candidate screening calls, before any subsequent compensation discussion is held between the candidate and any hiring authority.
