Job summary

The Johns Hopkins Hospital's Nelson 8 unit is a 23-bed acute medical floor with telemetry, where RNs provide care for patients with pulmonary, endocrine, GI, renal, cardiac and neuro conditions. The schedule covers a 40-hour workweek with 20 twelve-hour shifts in a 6-week cycle, including a day/night rotation with self-scheduling.

Active Maryland or Compact RN license, BLS CPR, ADN is required; BSN is preferred with a plan to pursue.

Qualifications

• Active Maryland or Compact RN license at time of hire.
• BLS CPR required.
• ADN required; BSN preferred with plan to pursue BSN.

Responsibilities

• Care for telemetry patients on a 23-bed unit.
• Manage complex medical conditions with IV drips and titrations.
• Collaborate with a supportive team on the Nelson 8 unit.

Nelson 8

The Johns Hopkins Hospital's Nelson 8 is a 23-bed acute medical floor, with capacity for 10 patients requiring telemetry. Staff on the unit care for a mix of complex medical patients, including pulmonary, endocrine, GI, renal, cardiac, and neuro. On the unit, you will gain experience with continuous drips & IV titrations for antiarrhythmics, dopamine, nitroglycerin, heparin, and PCA pumps. The unit is very supportive of new staff.

Qualifications:

• Active Maryland or Compact RN license is required at time of hire
• BLS CPR required
• Associate’s Degree in nursing (ADN) (Required)
• BSN (preferred) and applicants w/an ADN in nursing will be considered. Per nursing guidelines, must matriculate into a BSN program.

Salary Range: Minimum $36.07/hour - Maximum $54.28/hour. Compensation will be commensurate with equity and experience for roles of similar scope and responsibility. In cases where the range is displayed as a $0 amount, salary discussions will occur during candidate screening calls, before any subsequent compensation discussion is held between the candidate and any hiring authority.
