Requires a valid NC RN License or a Compact State RN License. Heart experience is preferred. ACLS and BCLS certifications are required.
CVT is an 18-bed acuity-adaptable unit specializing in cardiothoracic surgery, vascular surgery, and the management of intra-aortic balloon pumps and Impella devices. Nurses develop strong assessment skills and become experts at managing drip titrations, chest tubes, and ventilators. With the acuity-adaptable approach, nurses manage care for patients requiring open-heart surgery from admission through discharge. This setting promotes efficient patient care and strengthens nurse-patient relationships. Nurses are required to obtain and maintain ACLS certification.
