Job summary

UnityPoint Health is seeking a Registered Nurse for the Oncology/5 Center in Cedar Rapids, IA. This full-time night-shift role (3 x 12s per week) supports safe patient care and collaborates with the healthcare team to deliver high-quality outcomes.

The RN will assess, diagnose, plan, implement and evaluate patient care, coordinating with families and other disciplines. A 0.9 FTE and a $10,000 sign-on bonus are offered, with night/weekend differentials and a comprehensive rewards program.

Qualifications

• Graduate of accredited nursing program.
• Current RN licensure in the State of Iowa or a compact state.
• Current BCLS (Basic Life Support) certification.
• Fluent English (speaking, reading and writing).
• Multicultural sensitivity and patient-centered care.
• Proficient in nursing procedures and use of clinical equipment.
• Ability to complete EMR/in-hospital training.

Responsibilities

• Assumes primary responsibility for the plan of care per unit standards and nursing care for the patient population.
• Effectively delegates tasks to health care team members and ensures follow-up.
• Performs admission assessments including history, physical and psycho-social evaluation; formulates diagnoses and goals.
• Develops and mutually agrees on a care plan with patient and family; revises priorities each shift.
• Delivers care per current nursing standards, evidence-based practice and hospital protocols.
• Administers medications and nursing treatments within scope of practice; ensures safety.
• Integrates Comfort/C.A.R.E. model in daily nursing care.
• Educates patients and families, tailoring teaching to age, culture and readiness to learn.
• Provides discharge planning and education throughout hospitalization.
