RWJBarnabas Health is seeking an Assistant Director of Patient Care (RN) for the Mental Health Open Unit at Jersey City Medical Center. The role is salaried, night shift, and focuses on leadership, staffing, and clinical governance to ensure high-quality, age-appropriate patient care.

Requirements include an active New Jersey RN license, BSN, BLS/ACLS within 6 months, and 3–5 years of acute BH nursing with leadership experience. MSN preferred and EMR (EPIC) experience is advantageous.

Qualifications

• Active New Jersey RN license in good standing
• BLS and ACLS within 6 months of hire
• Bachelor of Science in Nursing required
• MSN preferred
• 3–5 years acute behavioral health nursing experience with leadership/charge nurse experience
• Experience with behavioral health population and EMR systems (EPIC)

Responsibilities

• Facilitate safe and effective unit operation.
• Hire and orient licensed/unlicensed staff with Nursing Director collaboration.
• Manage unit-based education programs and staff development.
• Oversee staffing and scheduling to ensure safe patient care.
• Lead quality improvement and patient safety initiatives.
• Coordinate with transfer center to manage bed flow and admissions.
• Support and maintain interdisciplinary collaboration across all disciplines.
