Job summary

FirstHealth of the Carolinas is seeking a NICU RN to provide highly specialized and compassionate care to critically ill newborns in the NICU. You will work closely with neonatologists and respiratory therapists to deliver evidence-based care.

The role emphasizes supporting families, assessing progress, and collaborating with the health care team to adapt care plans as babies grow.

Applicants must hold a valid NC RN license (or Compact), BCLS and PALS, and plan to obtain a BSN within five years.

Qualifications

• Valid NC RN License or Compact State RN License required.
• BCLS and PALS required.
• To develop and maintain a highly educated registered nursing staff, BSN within five years of employment.

Responsibilities

• Provide highly specialized and compassionate care to critically ill newborns in the NICU.
• Offer emotional support to parents and help them navigate the challenges of a newborn in the NICU.
• Collaborate with neonatologists, respiratory therapists, and other NICU nurses.
• Evaluate family response to care and teaching and revise the plan of care as needed.
• Evaluate patient progress toward goals in collaboration with the health care team.

Responsibilities

The NICU RN is responsible for providing highly specialized and compassionate care to critically ill newborns, while providing emotional support to parents, helping them navigate the challenges of having a newborn in the intensive care setting. The NICU RN works closely with neonatologists, respiratory therapists and other nurses within the NICU setting. Evaluates the family's response to care and teaching and revises the plan of care as needed. Evaluates patient progress towards goals and expected outcomes in collaboration with other health care team members.

Qualifications

Valid NC RN License or Compact State RN License required. Experience required. BCLS and PALS required.

To develop and maintain a highly educated registered nursing staff to meet the present and future demands of the nursing profession, employees who begin employment with FirstHealth of the Carolinas in a position that requires a registered nurse must have a Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) degree within five (5) years of their employment date.
