Job summary

Spectrum Health is offering a Weekend Only Program for RNs at the Big Rapids Campus. Eligibility includes RNs in inpatient settings with 24/7 scheduling. The role is 0.9 FTE, consisting of two 12-hour weekend shifts plus one additional weekday shift.

RNs will receive an additional $10 per hour on top of base pay, with shift differentials and other codes applied. PTO and weekend shift exchange options are available within unit-guided policies.

Qualifications

• Associates in Nursing required.
• Bachelors in Nursing required within 5 years.
• MI Registered Nurse (RN) required.
• BLS required within 90 days.
• ACLS required within 6 months.

Responsibilities

• Delivers nursing care on a 22-bed medical surgical unit and 4-bed ICU with interdisciplinary teamwork.
• Provides care per ANA standards and hospital protocols.
• Supports scheduling and patient care coordination according to unit guidelines.

Job description

We are excited to be offering a Weekend Only Program for RNs!

Eligibility: RNs in inpatient nursing settings with 24/7 scheduling are included.

0.9 FTE would work two 12-hour shifts on the weekend and one additional shift during the week.

Compensation

RNs will receive an additional $10 per hour plus their base pay.

If the RN is a full-time (3)12s a week RN, the stipend will apply to the two shifts on the weekend and not on the third weekday shift. This $10 per hour will be combined with shift differentials as well as other special codes.

Scheduling

RNs will be required to work 48 out of 52 weekends per calendar year. Weekends are defined as Friday and Saturday night for night shift. RNs can request up to 48 hours of PTO on their weekend shifts as well as 48 hours of exchanging a weekend shift for a weekday shift, for a total of 96 hours 'off' of the weekend requirement. This would be given in accordance with unit guidelines with allotted PTO as well as peak times, etc. RNs may request 1 holiday off per calendar year that falls on the weekend. The RN would only work the holiday if it fell on the weekend, they will not be moved off a weekend to work on a holiday.

About the unit

Big Rapids Campus has a 22 bed medical surgical unit and a 4 bed critical care unit. This campus is the perfect place to gain experience as a new nurse and grow your career! The patient population in Big Rapids is very diverse, it consists of primarily hospitalist medicine patients with a wide variety of diagnosis, some of which include: pneumonia, COPD, cellulitis, kidney failure, and bowel obstructions. These diagnoses provide the opportunity to develop acute care skills such as IV placement, chest tubes and NG placement/management. In our critical care unit it is common to see high acuity patients with sepsis, hyperglycemia and respiratory failure whose plan of care would include managing medication drips (insulin, vasopressors, etc.) and the utilization of equipment such as ventilators and BIPAPs. Big Rapids has a well-established team that works collaboratively with an interdisciplinary team that includes hospitalists, care managers, social workers, pharmacy, nurse techs, physical therapists, and occupational therapists to provide quality care for our patients. We have a good mix of experienced RNs that work alongside our education team to provide our new hires and grads with a great onboarding experience. For scheduling we currently have a six week rotating core so you are able to determine ahead of time when to schedule appointments, etc. to maintain a good work life balance.
