Gerber Med Surg, part of Corewell Health, is a 13-bed unit undergoing a full refresh in Fremont, MI. The RN will provide compassionate nursing care, follow the ANA nursing process, and uphold professional standards to deliver quality patient outcomes.

The position is part-time, night shift, 24 hours weekly, with a 7:00 p.m. to 7:30 a.m. schedule and every-other-weekend rotation. Michigan RN license, BLS within 90 days, ACLS within six months are required.

Qualifications

• Associate degree in Nursing required.
• Bachelor’s degree in Nursing required within five years of graduation.
• Registered Nurse (RN) license in Michigan required.
• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required within 90 days of hire.
• Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) certification required within six months of hire.

Overview

Gerber Med Surg is a 13‑bed unit, with four observation beds and nine inpatient beds. The unit is undergoing a full refresh, featuring new paint, flooring, artwork in halls and patient rooms, and a new nurses’ station, breakroom, and staff bathroom. Gerber Med Surg is the hospital’s largest patient population and a cornerstone of the community, offering telemedicine services in pulmonology, neurology, infectious disease, and wound care, with palliative care services soon to arrive. MRI is available six days a week, and the hospital also provides CT, fluoroscopy, general and orthopedic surgery, care management, and medical social workers on site to keep quality care local.

Scope of Work

Delivers nursing care responsibly and accountably as described professionally by the American Nurses Association (ANA) and legally by the State of Michigan. Demonstrates competency through the nursing process—assessment, diagnosis, outcomes identification, planning, implementation, and evaluation—and upholds ANA standards of professional performance, including ethical practice, culturally congruent practice, communication, collaboration, leadership, education, evidence‑based practice and research, quality of practice, professional practice evaluation, resource utilization, and environmental health. Strives to achieve optimal outcomes.
