Corewell Health seeks a part-time nurse for the Gerber OB unit, a private-room, mother–baby centered unit serving labor through postpartum care. The role supports day and night shifts with a collaborative environment for safe, individualized obstetric care.

The position requires RN licensure in Michigan with Associates and a Bachelor’s degree in Nursing within five years, plus BLS/ACLS/PALS/ENPC/TNCC certifications within specified timelines. Benefits are offered to eligible staff.

Qualifications

• Associates in Nursing required.
• Bachelors in Nursing required within 5 years.
• MI Registered Nurse (RN) required.
• BLS required within 90 days.
• ACLS required within 6 months.
• PALS - AHA within 180 days.
• ENPC - ENA within 1 year.
• TNCC - ENA within 1 year.

Responsibilities

• Delivers nursing care per ANA nursing process across assessment, diagnosis, planning, implementation, evaluation.
• Upholds ethical practice, culturally congruent care, communication, collaboration and quality practice.
• Supports safe, individualized care for mothers and babies.
• Works within a team to ensure optimal outcomes for obstetric patients.

About The Unit

The Gerber OB unit is a private-room, mother–baby centered unit providing care across labor, delivery, recovery, and postpartum. The unit includes 7 private patient rooms, a 3‑bed triage area, a short-term observation room, and a dedicated surgical suite for C‑sections.

The Gerber OB unit is a private-room, mother–baby centered unit providing care across labor, delivery, recovery, and postpartum. The unit includes 7 private patient rooms, a 3‑bed triage area, a short-term observation room, and a dedicated surgical suite for C‑sections.

Nurses care for one laboring patient at a time, transitioning to one nurse for every two mother–baby couplets postpartum. Triage is typically staffed by one to two nurses. The unit supports day and night shifts and offers a collaborative environment focused on safe, individualized care for mothers and babies.

Scope of work

Delivers nursing care responsibly and accountably as described professionally by the American Nurses Association (ANA) and legally by the State of Michigan. Demonstrates competency through the critical thinking model known as the nursing process. This includes assessment, diagnosis, outcomes identification, planning, implementation, and evaluation. Upholds the standards of professional performance as described by the ANA. This includes ethical practice, culturally congruent practice, communication, collaboration, leadership, education, evidence-based practice and research, quality of practice, professional practice evaluation, resource utilization and environmental health. Strives to achieve optimal outcomes.

Qualifications
