Job summary

UMass Memorial Health is seeking an experienced Registered Nurse to provide direct patient care using the nursing process, from admission through discharge. You will perform assessments, coordinate care plans, and supervise nursing staff in a fast-paced environment.

The role requires Massachusetts RN licensure, BLS, ACLS in select areas, and PALS in select areas within specified timeframes. A BSN is highly preferred, with a commitment to exemplary patient care and teamwork.

Qualifications

• Current Massachusetts Nursing licensure and registration.
• BLS through American Heart Association (AHA) or American Red Cross (ARC) required within 30 days of hire.
• ACLS required in select areas within 6 months or first scheduled course offering.
• PALS required in select areas within 6 months or first scheduled course offering.
• NRP Advanced Provider required in select areas within 6 months or first scheduled course offering.
• BSN degree preferred.

Responsibilities

• Utilize the Nursing Process to plan and manage patient care from admission to discharge.
• Perform patient assessment and reassessment per standard procedures.
• Develop and coordinate individualized care plans including discharge planning.
• Direct, supervise, and evaluate nursing care within the assigned setting.
• Delegate tasks appropriately according to competency and job descriptions.

License/Certification/Education

Required:

• Current Massachusetts Nursing licensure and registration.
• BLS through either American Heart Association (AHA) or American Red Cross (ARC) is a requirement for every RN within 30 days of hire.
• ACLS through American Heart Association (AHA) required in select areas (Gannett, MP1, ICU, ED, Cath Lab, Endo, IR, PACU, Float Pool) within 6 months or first scheduled course offering whichever is sooner.
• PALS through American Heart Association (AHA) required in select areas (PACU, ED) within 6 months or first scheduled course offering whichever is sooner.
• NRP Advanced Provider through American Academy of Pediatrics (AAP) required in select areas (Maternity) within 6 months or first scheduled course offering whichever is sooner.

Preferred:

• Bachelor of Science degree in Nursing highly preferred.

Experience/Skills

Required:

• Thorough knowledge of the discipline of Nursing.

Unless certification, licensure or registration is required, an equivalent combination of education and experience which provides proficiency in the areas of responsibility listed in this description may be substituted for the above requirements.
