Job summary

UMass Memorial Health is actively seeking a registered nurse to plan, deliver, and manage direct patient care using the nursing process. You will assess patients, coordinate care plans, and support discharge planning across shifts.

Ideal candidates hold MA RN licensure with BLS; ACLS/PALS/NRP in select areas; BSN preferred. This full-time role offers a competitive starting range and a robust benefits package.

Qualifications

• Active Massachusetts RN license and registration.
• BLS certification required within 30 days of hire.
• ACLS required in select units within 6 months.
• PALS required in select units within 6 months.
• NRP advanced provider certification in select units within 6 months.

Responsibilities

• Provide direct nursing care using the nursing process from admission to discharge.

(based on a full time schedule of 40 hours per week).

Responsible for the planning, delivery and management of direct patient care utilizing the nursing process and adhering to the standards of nursing practice.

I. Major Responsibilities:

1. Utilizes the Nursing Process for the delivery and management of patient’s care from Admission to Discharge, appropriate to the developmental age of the patient population.
2. Performs patient assessment/reassessment according to standard procedure.
3. Develops and coordinates individual plan of care including discharge planning.
4. Directs, supervises, coordinates and evaluate nursing care within assigned clinical setting.
5. Delegates appropriately to others in accordance with job description and competency level.

II. Position Qualifications:
License/Certification/Education:
Required:

1. Current Massachusetts Nursing licensure and registration.
2. BLS through either American Heart Association (AHA) or American Red Cross (ARC) is a requirement for every RN within 30 days of hire.
3. ACLS through American Heart Association (AHA) required in select areas (Gannett, MP1, ICU, ED, Cath Lab, Endo, IR, PACU, Float Pool) within 6 months or first scheduled course offering whichever is sooner.
4. PALS through American Heart Association (AHA) required in select areas (PACU, ED) within 6 months or first scheduled course offering whichever is sooner.
5. NRP Advanced Provider through American Academy of Pediatrics (AAP) required in select areas (Maternity) within 6 months or first scheduled course offering whichever is sooner.

Preferred:

1. Bachelor of Science degree in Nursing highly preferred.

Experience/Skills:
Required:

1. Thorough knowledge of the discipline of Nursing.

Unless certification, licensure or registration is required, an equivalent combination of education and experience which provides proficiency in the areas of responsibility listed in this description may be substituted for the above requirements.
