Job summary

ARMStaffing is seeking a Medical-Surgical Float Pool Nurse for a 13-week assignment in Philadelphia. The role requires float across Med-Surg units, caring for step-down and ED patients, with a 1:4 nurse-to-patient ratio and 36 hours per week on a 19:00–07:30 night shift.

Candidates must have at least 2 years in Med-Surg, current BLS and NIHHS certifications; ACLS and TNCC preferred. Expect hospital policy adherence and strong clinical judgment, with EPIC proficiency.

• Current BLS and NIHHS certifications; ACLS and TNCC preferred.

NOC Shift: 19:00 – 07:30, 3 × 12 hour shifts, totalling 36 hours per week.

Job Description

The Medical-Surgical Float Pool Nurse provides comprehensive patient care across multiple medical-surgical units. Nurses are expected to adapt quickly to varying patient populations and unit workflows, functioning independently while demonstrating strong clinical judgment and adhering to all hospital policies and safety standards.

Responsibilities

• Deliver patient care across all inpatient Medical-Surgical units, including step down and emergency departments for Med-Surg holds.
• Maintain compliance with all hospital policies, including attendance, documentation standards, and medication safety protocols.
• Float between multiple units as required, demonstrating strong proficiency in EPIC.

Required Experience / Certifications / Licensure

• Minimum of 2 years of experience in Medical-Surgical nursing.
• Current BLS and NIHHS certifications; ACLS and TNCC preferred.

Weekend and Holiday Requirements

• Every other weekend is required.
• Agency staff are not scheduled on holidays but must be available for the days surrounding 1-2 holidays, depending on the contract length.

Nurse-to-Patient Ratio

The nurse-to-patient ratio is 1:4 on standard Med-Surg units, varying based on unit acuity and staffing needs.
