Job summary

Job Description

The Registered Nurse in Burn MedSurg will work in a 15 room, 26 bed unit that specializes in Adult Burn, Plastic, and Pediatric Trauma and Burn care. The average daily census is 22 patients. The unit features anesthesia-assisted procedures for painful wound care, with nitrous available. A wound care RN will support the primary RN during 8-hour day shifts.

Candidates will participate in EtCO2 monitoring for specific patients, and the facility utilizes the EPIC charting system. The patient population includes various age groups, and experience in pediatric cases is preferred but not required.

Responsibilities

• Provide nursing care for patients in a burn and trauma setting.
• Assist in anesthesia-assisted procedures for wound care.
• Monitor and manage pain management and sedation for patients in the unit.
• Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams including IV Teams, Physical Therapy, and Social Services.
• Implement proper wound care techniques and utilize wound care RN support.
• Maintain accurate and thorough documentation using EPIC.

Required Experience

• Minimum of 1 year of nursing experience.
• Experience with trauma and surgical care preferred.

Certifications/Licensure

• Current BLS certification required.
• ACLS certification preferred.
