Job summary

Medical City Dallas is seeking an experienced Registered Nurse for the Med Surg Ortho unit. This full-time day shift runs 7:00am–7:00pm with rotating weekends, emphasizing patient-centered care and collaboration with the care team.

The RN will perform comprehensive assessments, develop care plans, educate patients and families, and deliver evidence-based nursing across orthopedics to support positive outcomes and a great patient experience.

Qualifications

• Graduate of an accredited School of Professional Nursing.
• Associates degree acceptable to start; Bachelor's within 24 months.
• Current TX RN license or compact license.
• Current BLS from AHA or Red Cross.
• Minimum 1 year acute care hospital experience.
• Ortho experience preferred.

Responsibilities

• Determine health status and needs through data interpretation with the care team.
• Provide individualized, goal-directed nursing care.
• Perform comprehensive nursing assessments of health status.
• Formulate a nursing care plan based on diagnoses and problems.
• Implement nursing care within RN scope and applicable laws.
• Develop and implement patient education plans on health promotion and restoration.
• Provide education, emotional support and age-specific care.
• Care for multiple patients via direct care or delegation.
• Evaluate patient responses to interventions.
• Use critical thinking and current literature for decision making in nursing practice.
