Job summary

UAB Medicine in Birmingham is seeking a Registered Nurse for the Med Surg department to provide direct patient care in a fast-paced setting. You will coordinate disciplines to ensure well‑coordinated care, implement and monitor care plans, and carry out orders with accuracy.

The role requires a nursing diploma, active RN licensure in Alabama, and BLS certification within 30 days of hire. This full-time daytime position supports a leading health system at UAB St Vincents East.

Qualifications

• BLS provider certification required within 30 days of hire.
• Current RN license or eligibility to be licensed by the Alabama Board of Nursing.
• Diploma from an accredited nursing program and professional licensure at time of hire.

Responsibilities

• Provide direct nursing care in accordance with established policies, procedures and protocols of the healthcare organization.
• Implement and monitor patient care plans; monitor, record and communicate patient condition.
• Serve as a primary coordinator of all disciplines for well-coordinated patient care.
• Note and carry out physician and nursing orders.
• Assess and coordinate patient discharge planning needs with the healthcare team.
