Job summary

Burbankhealthcare is seeking an MDS Coordinator to manage the MDS process for residents in accordance with OBRA and PPS guidelines. You will ensure accurate documentation, admission assessments, and compliance with Medicare criteria, while supporting quality nursing care and a safe environment.

Ideal candidates hold a California RN license with 1–2 years of MDS experience or a completed MDS course. BLS/CPR is required, and prior SNF experience is preferred.

Qualifications

• Active California RN license required.
• 1-2 years of MDS experience or completed MDS course.
• BLS or CPR certification required.
• 1-2 years in an MDS coordinator or related role.
• Strong mathematical skills for variance analysis and sampling.

Responsibilities

• Participate in admission process for nursing needs and placement.
• Determine RUGs and related admission costs.
• Review admission applications and communicate results to Admissions Coordinator.
• Complete and ensure accuracy of the MDS process for all residents.
• Maintain knowledge of Medicare criteria and inform nursing staff of changes.
• Monitor Case Mix Index (CMI) for Medicaid reimbursement risk.
• Facilitate problem-solving for complex admissions.
• Monitor Medicare assessment schedules and ensure timely documentation.
• Comply with attendance policy and reliability expectations.
