Job summary

Cynet HealthStaff seeks an RN Manager for the Emergency Department on an 14-month assignment, Evening shift from 3:00 PM to 11:00 PM. Description:Nurse Manager Emergency Department assumes 24-hour responsibility for overall assessment, planning, implementation, and evaluation of patient care.Responsibilities include oversight and direction for the emergency department and accountability for planning, directing, leading, and evaluating nursing care within the department.Foster an environment of collaboration and respect with all other healthcare team members.Weekend and holiday coverage may be required as part of the role.


Operational Performance:Develop long-term unit staffing schedules and ensure adequate daily coverage in accordance with established staffing needs.Develop measures and monitor unit operational performance metrics including agency and overtime costs, vacancy, and turnover rates.Oversee daily workflow, staffing, orientation, training, and development of employees within the department.Responsible for ongoing quality and performance improvement processes related to the emergency department.Promote and support a collaborative team approach in providing care for all emergency department and trauma patients.Approach others in a tactful manner and treat others with respect and consideration.Support and interpret policies, procedures, and objectives of the organization.Monitor customer satisfaction scores and implement plans for improvement.Monitor patient volume, quality of care, and staff performance to identify areas for improvement.Maintain a departmental dashboard that includes information and progress regarding people, service, quality, and leadership.Investigate patient, physician, and staff complaints/concerns and work to resolve these issues.Maintain required competencies for self and all employees within the department.Participate in a professional organization.


Clinical Practice/Patient Care:Collaborate with leadership to establish nursing care standards and evaluate staff compliance.Identify protocols affecting the patient population served and keep nursing staff informed.Demonstrate self-development and keep current on a variety of clinical management and healthcare topics.Maintain a safe and caring environment for patients and staff conducive to positive health teaching and maintenance.Ensure equal access to treatment for all persons in need regardless of individual characteristics.


Management:Participate in the overall planning process for the service.Conduct monthly meetings with staff to address equipment, scheduling, goals, and objectives, performance metrics and improvement activities, and any staff concerns.


Human Resource Development/Management:Educate and evaluate staff.Work with nursing leadership and human resources to counsel, discipline, and terminate staff as needed.Educate staff in new and existing department procedures and systems.Create and maintain an atmosphere of respect and courtesy toward patients and colleagues.
