Job summary

The Centralized Nurse and Lung Bus Navigator is a key member of FirstHealth's lung screening program, providing clinical navigation, patient support, and operational coordination for the lung bus and broader lung screening initiatives.

This RN role guides patients through the screening continuum, collaborates with providers and community partners, travels regionally for mobile clinics, and promotes compassionate, patient-centered care across traditional and non-traditional settings.

Qualifications

• RN license valid in North Carolina or multi-state via compact
• BLS certification required
• BSN preferred but not mandatory
• Experience with patient navigation or screening programs is a plus

Responsibilities

• Act as clinical resource for patients in the lung cancer screening program
• Educate patients on screening eligibility, decisions, procedures, results, and follow-up
• Coordinate care across the screening continuum and referrals
• Monitor patients with abnormal results and promote adherence to pathways
• Identify and address barriers to care (transportation, finances, health literacy)
• Maintain regular communication with patients, providers, and care teams
• Document navigation activities per organizational standards
• Travel to support mobile screening clinics and events
• Collaborate with radiology, operations, and outreach teams
