Job Overview

This is a full‑time, benefited position as a Lead OR RN at Scripps Mercy San Diego. The shift is 3 days per week with a 12‑hour day shift. The candidate must have OR circulating experience specifically with Orthopedics, Neuro, and Spine surgery service lines, and will also support other lead services.

Incentive: $8,000 and a relocation incentive of $3,000 for eligible new hires.

Responsibilities

• Management and coordination of patient care within the Care Unit on a per shift basis, through implementation and integration of the nursing process, assignment and supervision of appropriate staff and collaboration with physicians.
• Act as the Care Unit expert and provide functional direction to members of the OR patient care team.
• Communicate with supply chain coordinators, vendors, surgeons, and charge RNs.
• Review the OR schedule and order necessary products and supplies.
• Cover breaks and support staff in the room, and may staff a room at times.
• Assist other leads on projects.

Qualifications

Required Education/Experience/Specialized Skills:

• Registered nursing degree from an accredited school of nursing.
• California Registered Nurse License.
• One (1) year of recent surgery or operating room RN experience in an acute care setting.
• Orthopedics/Neuro/Spine surgery experience.
• Current American Heart Association BLS provider certification.
• Ability to speak, read, and follow instructions in English.
• Demonstrate positive behaviors.

Preferred Education/Experience/Specialized Skills/Certification:

• Bachelor's degree in nursing.
• 3 years or more experience in nursing (preferred).
• 2 years or more related experience.
• CNOR certificate.
• Leadership experience.
