Job summary

Parkland Health and Hospital System is seeking a Lactation Consultant (RN) in Dallas, TX. The role involves providing breastfeeding education and support to patients and families, assisting with breastfeeding problems, and serving as a resource for hospital staff. A RN license, a degree in nursing, and experience in maternal/infant health are required. Certifications in Basic Life Support and expertise in lactation are preferred. Qualifications

• Current/valid RN license or a valid Compact RN license required.
• Minimum of one year of experience in maternal/infant health in an inpatient hospital setting.
• Certification as an International Board Certified Lactation Consultant (IBCLC) within 18 months of hire.

Responsibilities

• Facilitates the initiation and continuation of breastfeeding.
• Provides education on breastfeeding and related topics.
• Assists with common breastfeeding problems and solutions.
• Serves as a clinical resource to hospital staff on breastfeeding issues.
• Maintains documentation and entries in patient care records.
• Stays current with developments in lactation consulting.
