Position Summary

Assess, plan, delegate, and coordinate nursing care for patients during the shift in collaboration with the healthcare team. Responsibilities include:

• Identifying patient needs through assessment
• Supervising LPNs, Nursing Assistants, and UC
• Responding to emergencies
• Documenting assessments, care plans, and patient responses
• Administering medications and treatments, including IV meds, blood products, hyperalimentation, epidural analgesia, patient-controlled analgesia, and chemotherapy
• Maintaining and charging equipment and supplies, checking emergency equipment
• Ensuring a safe environment following infection control and safety policies
• Receiving and executing physician orders, evaluating patient outcomes
• Using fetal monitoring and interpreting results for appropriate interventions

Qualifications

Position Requirements: Current Virginia License at hire

Education/Experience: Must be registered in Virginia; no prior clinical experience required, but 6 months Labor/Delivery preferred. Orientation provided within 30 days of hire.

Special Qualifications: CPR and NRP certification within 30 days of hire; annual competency assessments; ACLS preferred; AWHONN Intermediate Fetal Monitoring every two years or within one year of hire.
