Job summary

Corewell Health's Butterworth Hospital in Grand Rapids seeks an experienced Labor and Delivery RN to provide patient-centered nursing care in a high-volume unit. You will follow the nursing process, work within ANA standards, and collaborate with the OB team during night shifts on a 36-hour week schedule.

Qualified candidates hold an RN license in Michigan, have a BSN preferred within 5 years, and show commitment to women’s health.

Qualifications

• Associates in Nursing required.
• Bachelor's in Nursing required within 5 years.
• MI Registered Nurse (RN) required upon hire.
• BLS required within 90 days.
• NRP required within 90 days.
• ACLS preferred within 2 years.
• 1+ year of RN experience preferred.
• Women's health experience preferred.

Responsibilities

• Delivers nursing care responsibly and accountably following ANA standards and Michigan law.
• Demonstrates the nursing process: assessment, diagnosis, outcomes, planning, implementation and evaluation.

About the unit

Our Labor and Delivery is located at Butterworth hospital. We deliver the most babies of any hospital in Michigan with an average of 8,000 births a year. The unit consists of 28 private birthing suites, 11-bed triage, 3 OR suites, and 5 recovery bays. Our staff consist of RN, Anesthesia RNs, Nurse Techs, OB Techs and Unit Secretaries.

Scope of work

Delivers nursing care responsibly and accountably as described professionally by the American Nurses Association (ANA) and legally by the State of Michigan. Demonstrates competency through the critical thinking model known as the nursing process. This includes assessment, diagnosis, outcomes identification, planning, implementation, and evaluation. Upholds the standards of professional performance as described by the ANA. This includes ethical practice, culturally congruent practice, communication, collaboration, leadership, education, evidence-based practice and research, quality of practice, professional practice evaluation, resource utilization and environmental health. Strives to achieve optimal outcomes.

Qualifications

• Associates in Nursing Required
• Bachelors in Nursing Required within 5 years
• MI Registered Nurse (RN) Required upon hire
• BLS required within 90 days
• CRT-Neonatal Resuscitation Program (NRP) required within 90 days
• CRT-Fetal Heart Monitoring Certification required within 1.5 years
• CRT-Adv Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) preferred within 2 years
• 1+ year of RN experience preferred
• Women's health experience preferred
