Corewell Health in Lakeland/Niles is seeking a part-time RN to deliver comprehensive postpartal and labor/delivery care. You will perform assessments, develop plans with families, and coordinate with obstetric teams to ensure safe mother-baby outcomes.

The role emphasizes family-centered care, teaching, and accurate documentation, with responsibilities spanning postpartum nursing, newborn care, and collaboration with the OR for C-sections.

Qualifications

• Associates in Nursing required; Bachelor’s in Nursing within 5 years preferred.
• Registered Nurse (MI) license required.
• BLS certification within 90 days of hire.
• NRP certification within 90 days of hire.
• C-EFM certification within 1.5 years of hire.

Responsibilities

• Provide nursing care following ANA guidelines and nursing process.
• Collaborate with patient, family, and care team to develop and adjust plans of care.
• Monitor mothers and newborns, including postpartal and L&D needs, and document in health records.

About the Unit

This unit is a 14-bed mother-baby postpartum/labor and delivery/triage unit. All nurses are oriented to all areas of the unit. We also staff our own OR where we perform all of our C-Sections. Staffing assignments are rotated frequently so staff can work in all areas. We have a Level 1 nursery, any mothers that need care prior to 35 weeks and newborns that need additional care are transferred to other facilities.

Scope of Work

The RN, under the ANA scope of practice utilizes the framework of the nursing process to provide professional nursing care by incorporating patient-family centered care principles to assess, plan, implement, evaluate, and discharge. The RN provides quality patient care under the direction of the Nurse Leader according to Corewell Health policies and procedures and recognizes the impact of nursing care and patient/family partnerships on patient outcomes. The RN partners with and utilizes patient/family input and goals in planning plan of care and develops teaching strategies for patient/family; documents education and learning appropriately in health record.

Qualifications

Required

• - Associates in Nursing
• - Bachelors in Nursing within 5 years
• - Graduates from a non-accredited school of nursing must have at least one year of acute care experience or at least two years of experience in a licensed health care role and must have successfully passed the NCLEX licensure examination.
• - MI Registered Nurse (RN)
• - AHA or ARC Basic Life Support (BLS) within 90 days
• - Neonatal Resuscitation Program (NRP) - AHA American Heart Association within 90 days
• - Electronic Fetal Monitoring Certification (C-EFM) - NCC National Certification Corporation Birthplace within 1 1/2 years

Preferred

• - AHA Adv Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) - Labor and Delivery within 2 year
