Job summary

Corewell Health in St. Joseph, MI is hiring an RN for the Labor and Delivery unit (Full time, night shift). You will provide bedside nursing care per ANA standards, partnering with families and the Nurse Leader to ensure safe, high-quality outcomes.

Responsibilities include planning and evaluating care, educating patients and families, and documenting education in the health record. Evening/night schedule includes 36 hours weekly with variable days and every third weekend.

Qualifications

• Associates in Nursing required.
• Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) within 5 years preferred?
• New graduates from non-accredited nursing schools must have acute care experience or two years in licensed health care and pass NCLEX.

Responsibilities

• Provide professional nursing care using the nursing process with patient-family centered care.
• Assess, plan, implement, evaluate, and discharge; develop teaching strategies for patient/family.
• Document education and learning appropriately in health records.
• Partner with patient/family input and goals in planning care.

About The Unit

St. Joseph Labor and Delivery unit is comprised of a 9-bed mother baby unit and Level 1 nursery on the 4th floor. The 3rd floor has 7 Labor and Delivery rooms, 2 C-section ORs, 2 testing bays and 2 OBED rooms. Nurses are trained to all areas, including circulating and recovery for C-sections. Staffing assignments are rotated frequently so staff remain competent in all areas. The unit is currently under construction and will move to an LDRP model in June of 2028.

Scope of Work

The RN, under the ANA scope of practice utilizes the framework of the nursing process to provide professional nursing care by incorporating patient-family centered care principles to assess, plan, implement, evaluate, and discharge. The RN provides quality patient care under the direction of the Nurse Leader according to Corewell Health policies and procedures and recognizes the impact of nursing care and patient/family partnerships on patient outcomes. The RN partners with and utilizes patient/family input and goals in planning plan of care and develops teaching strategies for patient/family; documents education and learning appropriately in health record.

Qualifications

• Associates in Nursing
• Bachelors in Nursing within 5 years
• Graduates from a non-accredited school of nursing must have at least one year of acute care experience or at least two years of experience in a licensed health care role and must have successfully passed the NCLEX licensure examination.
• MI Registered Nurse (RN)
• AHA or ARC Basic Life Support (BLS) within 90 days
• Neonatal Resuscitation Program (NRP) - AHA American Heart Association within 90 days
• Electronic Fetal Monitoring Certification (C-EFM) - NCC National Certification Corporation Birthplace within 1 1/2 years

Preferred

• AHA Adv Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) - Labor and Delivery within 2 year
