Optim is seeking an RN Total Joint and Spine Educator in Reidsville, GA to lead and coordinate the Joint Program education, collaborating with Quality, Nursing, Surgery and Physical Therapy to ensure quality improvement initiatives.

The educator will develop patient education tools, assess knowledge, train hospital staff on joints education, and work with surgeons to improve care and discharge planning.

Qualifications

• Possession of a valid state license as a registered nurse.
• Possession of Basic Life Support, ACLS and PALS certifications.
• Ability to develop policies and procedures.
• Possess creative abilities to develop education tools.
• Have excellent written and verbal skills.
• Ability to teach and evaluate clinical performance of staff.
• Ability to teach patients/families and evaluate the response and retention of information.

Responsabilités

• Develop an education tool for patients/families through discussion, printed material, visual material and demonstration.
• Assesses patient/family knowledge of surgical procedure and recovery.
• Develops tools to use for patient/family knowledge deficit.
• Provides and develops education/orientation for hospital staff in relation to Joints.
• Works with Committee to develop standardized orders for Preoperative testing, Postoperative Care and Physical Therapy modalities.
• Acts as a facilitator between patients/families/staff/physicians as needed.
• Develops tools to aid staff in improvement of patient care.
• Develop close working relationship with surgeons to aid in program development.
• Liaison with surgeons and staff as needed.
• Consults on a regular basis with each surgeon performing joints for information updates and improvement of care.
• Consults with department heads for patient care improvement.
• Works in collaboration with interdisciplinary team to meet individual patient needs before discharge.
• Serves as a resource for all departments and personnel.
• Participates in performance improvement activities.
• Performs other duties as directed.
