Corewell Health is seeking a registered nurse for the Taylor Hospital Rehab Unit (3W). The RN will deliver patient-family centered care during a night shift, with a 36-hour weekly schedule (7:00 pm–7:30 am).

The role emphasizes planning and evaluating care with the patient and family, under the Nurse Leader’s direction. The ideal candidate holds an RN license in Michigan, an associate degree in nursing (BSN preferred within five years), and BLS certification at hire.

• Associates in Nursing required.
• BSN to be obtained within 5 years after hire.
• MI RN license (registered nurse) required; NCLEX completed.

Responsibilities

• Provide professional nursing care following the nursing process (assess, plan, implement, evaluate, discharge).
• Collaborate with patient/family to develop and adjust plan of care and teaching strategies.
• Document education and learning in the health record; partner with nurse leader and care team to optimize patient outcomes.

About the unit

We are a 35 bed Patient Family Centered Care ( PFCC ) Rehabilitation Unit designed for patients with Intensive therapy needs. Our patient's average length of stay is between 12 -14 days. We provide a transitional setting between the hospital and the patient's home. It is ideal for those who are medically stable, motivated and able to physically tolerate three hours of therapy per day, five days per week. Our team includes patients, their families, and other medical and case management professions. We have a team approach for our patients individualized treatment plan.

It offers specialty services that include 24-hour emergency care, wound care and hyperbaric oxygen therapy, a surgical pavilion, a pain management clinic, orthopedic surgery, an inpatient rehabilitation facility and full-service radiology, including advanced CT with cardiac scoring, fixed MRI including pacemaker, cinema vision and ultrasound (MSK and elastography).

Scope of work

The RN, under the ANA scope of practice utilizes the framework of the nursing process to provide professional nursing care by incorporating patient-family centered care principles to assess, plan, implement, evaluate, and discharge. The RN provides quality patient care under the direction of the Nurse Leader according to Corewell Health policies and procedures and recognizes the impact of nursing care and patient/family partnerships on patient outcomes. The RN partners with and utilizes patient/family input and goals in planning plan of care and develops teaching strategies for patient/family; documents education and learning appropriately in health record.

Qualifications

• Associates in Nursing Required
• Bachelors in Nursing Required within 5 years
• Graduates from a non-accredited school of nursing must have at least one year of acute care experience or at least two years of experience in a licensed health care role and must have successfully passed the NCLEX licensure examination.
• MI Registered Nurse (RN) Required
• AHA or ARC Basic Life Support (BLS) Required upon hire
• Specialty Certification highly recommended within 2 years
