Job summary

Inova Alexandria Hospital seeks a Registered Nurse (RN) Inpatient Lactation Consultant to join the Postpartum Unit. This PRN night shift starts at 7:00 PM or later, with flexible 8/10/12 hour options.

The role requires a BSN, VA RN license, and BLS; ACLS/PALS within 6 months and IBCLC preferred. You will collaborate with physicians and staff to provide evidence-based nursing care and discharge planning.

Qualifications

• 1 year of RN experience in critical care required.
• Current VA RN license or eligibility.
• BLS certification required on start; ACLS/PALS within 6 months.
• IBCLC certification preferred for lactation practice.

Responsibilities

• Perform thorough patient assessments and interpret data.
• Develop and implement individualized care plans.
• Coordinate discharge planning with team and resources.
• Mentor peers and serve as a clinical resource.
• Engage in continuing education and quality initiatives.
