Job summary

University of Wisconsin Hospitals and Clinics Authority in Madison, WI is seeking a Registered Nurse (RN) to float across multiple departments, caring for diverse patient populations in medical, surgical, and IMC units. The role is 60% FTE with evening/night shifts (7:00pm–7:30am) and every other weekend/holiday rotations at University Hospital in Madison.

The RN will provide evidence-based care, collaborate with multidisciplinary teams, and mentor new nurses while contributing to quality

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's Degree in Nursing (BSN) preferred.
  • Six months nursing experience in inpatient units or current UW Health Nurse Residency Program with successful completion of the Nurse Residency Orientation on unit/similar unit.
  • eICU: Two years of nursing experience required.
  • Licensed RN in WI or compact license upon hire required.
  • Current CPR/BLS certification upon hire required.
  • ACLS within 6 months required.

Work Schedule

60% FTE, evening/night shift between the hours of 7:00pm - 7:30am, with every other weekend and holiday rotation. You will work at University Hospital in Madison, WI.

We are seeking a Registered Nurse (RN) to:

  • Float across multiple departments and specialties caring for complex and dynamic patient populations in a variety of both medical and surgical general care units and intermediate care (IMC) units.
  • Provide high-quality, evidence-based care utilizing critical thinking skills to evaluate and assess patients, recognize and escalate complications, and administer appropriate nursing interventions while demonstrating a commitment to patient and family centered nursing care.
  • Partner with dynamic multidisciplinary teams of nurses, nursing assistants, coordinated care roles, therapists, advanced practice providers, medical teams, and more, honing interpersonal communication skills and effectively delegating tasks as needed.
  • Serve as a mentor and role model with opportunities to be a preceptor for new nurses and students, as well as have the opportunity to be involved in strategic planning efforts, quality improvement, and Shared Governance.

Qualifications
  • Bachelor's Degree in Nursing (BSN) Preferred
Work Experience
  • Inpatient Units and Central Float (Adult & Pediatric), Venous Access Team (VAT), Radiology, Hemodialysis, Cardiovascular Laboratory: Six (6) months nursing experience or current participant in UW Health's Nurse Residency Program with successful completion of the Nurse Residency Orientation on unit/similar unit. Required
  • eICU: Two (2) years of nursing experience Required
  • Relevant RN Experience Preferred
Licenses & Certifications
  • Licensed as a Registered Nurse (RN) in the State of WI or holds a license issued by a jurisdiction that has adopted the nurse licensure compact Upon Hire Required
  • Current CPR/BLS Certification Upon Hire Required
  • ACLS within 6 months Required
  • Relevant certification Preferred
