Job summary

UW Health in Madison, WI is seeking a Registered Nurse (RN) to join the 28-bed General Internal Medicine unit at University Hospital. This 90% FTE role features evening/night hours (3:00pm–7:30am) with every other weekend and a holiday rotation, in a Magnet-designated academic medical center that leads in patient care and research.

Qualifications

  • BSN preferred.
  • Current WI RN license or multi-state license per compact is required.
  • Two years of nursing experience in eICU is required.
  • Current CPR/BLS certification required.

  • Care for acutely ill adults on a 28-bed unit including those with pneumonia, COPD, renal failure, liver disease, and other complex conditions.
  • Provide care using evidence-based therapies and participate in research studies to improve outcomes.
  • Contribute to quality improvement initiatives and lead practice changes.
  • Collaborate in a unit with shared governance and ensure patient safety and high standards of care.

We are seeking a Registered Nurse (RN)to:

  • Join a team of remarkable nurses that use compassion and advanced critical thinking skills to care for adults suffering from complex acute illnesses on this 28-bed unit.
  • This unit also serves as our Special Pathogens Unit.
  • Provide care for acutely ill patients, including those with pneumonia, COPD, congestive heart failure, acute and chronic renal failure, cellulitis, gastrointestinal bleeds, liver failure, diseases of addiction, diabetes mellitus, COVID, and altered mental status.
  • Be involved in cutting edge, evidence-based therapies and research studies to improve patient outcomes.
  • Participate in quality improvement initiatives and lead practice change.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's Degree in Nursing (BSN) Preferred

Work Experience

  • Inpatient Units and Central Float (Adult & Pediatric), Venous Access Team (VAT), Radiology, Hemodialysis, Cardiovascular Laboratory: Six (6) months nursing experience or current participant in UW Health’s Nurse Residency Program with successful completion of the Nurse Residency Orientation on unit/similar unit. Required
  • eICU: Two (2) years of nursing experience Required
  • Relevant RN Experience Preferred

Licenses & Certifications

  • Licensed as a Registered Nurse (RN) in the State of WI or holds a license issued by a jurisdiction that has adopted the nurse licensure compact Required
  • Current CPR/BLS Certification Required
  • Relevant Certification Preferred
