Job summary

Ciena Healthcare in Michigan seeks a Staff Development Coordinator/Infection Prevention nurse to educate the Nursing staff, conduct orientation and ongoing in-service programs across shifts and departments.

You will design infection prevention systems, review surveillance data, initiate policies, and lead outbreak investigations to protect residents and staff. The role emphasizes collaboration and quality assurance within a supportive team.

Qualifications

• Current RN licensure in the state
• CPR certification
• 1–3 years of experience in long-term care preferred

Responsibilities

• Designs, plans and provides educational programs on all shifts and for all departments.
• Participates in the staff evaluation process by providing attendance records and observation of employee performance.
• Provides general facility orientation to all new employees and ongoing in-service education.
• Plans and provides a monthly and annual schedule of planned education programs.
• Ensures CNA/STNA meet the annual 12-hour in-service requirement.
• Actively participates in quality assurance and reports concerns to supervisor.
• Monitor healthcare-associated infections.
• Assess infection prevention problems and make recommendations for corrective action.
• Initiate, review, and revise infection prevention policies and procedures.
• Conduct outbreak investigation and initiates control measures and report communicable diseases to the state as required by law.
