Job summary

Ciena Healthcare in Michigan seeks a Staff Development Coordinator/Infection Prevention nurse to educate the nursing staff, conduct orientation and in-service programs, and design systems to prevent infections based on surveillance data. Qualifications

• RN licensure in Michigan (Current Registered Nurse)
• CPR certification required
• 1–3 years of long-term care experience preferred

Responsibilities

• Designs, plans and provides educational programs on all shifts and for all departments.
• Participates in the staff evaluation process by providing attendance records and observation of employee performance.
• Provides general facility orientation to all new employees and ongoing in-service education.
• Plans and provides a monthly and annual schedule of planned education programs.
• Ensures CNAs/STNAs meet the annual 12-hour in-service requirement.
• Acts in quality assurance and reports concerns to supervisor.
• Monitors healthcare-associated infections.
• Assesses infection prevention problems and makes recommendations for corrective action.
• Initiates, reviews, and revises infection prevention policies and procedures.
• Conducts outbreak investigations and initiates control measures; reports communicable diseases as required by law.
