Job summary

The Cleveland Clinic is expanding its New Neurological Institute with a new facility on the Main Campus. An Imaging RN will provide professional nursing care for patients undergoing diagnostic imaging and interventional radiology procedures, including sedation, vital signs, and education to ensure safe care.

Strong critical thinking and a solid medical-surgical background are valued. Hours are 4-10 hour shifts, every 3rd weekend, some holidays, and on-call.

Qualifications

  • Graduate of an accredited school of nursing (Diploma, ADN, BSN).
  • Current state licensure as a Registered Nurse.
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) certification through the American Heart Association or Red Cross.
  • In areas performing moderate sedation procedures, ACLS certification within six months of employment.
  • One year of recent RN experience (or 2 years LPN in same department) may substitute for RN experience.

Responsibilities

  • Provide nursing care to inpatients undergoing diagnostic or therapeutic services.
  • Assess patients, perform nursing assessments, document findings, and notify physicians of abnormalities.
  • Perform telephone triage and call rotations.
  • Administer treatments and medications; perform nursing procedures.
  • Establish care plans with patients, families, and the health care team.
  • Identify discharge needs and facilitate discharge planning.
  • Maintain standards of care and educate patients and families.
  • Cover other nursing roles in the department.

Position Overview

Join the Cleveland Clinic's New Neurological Institute and become part of one of the world’s most respected healthcare organizations. We are expanding with a new, one-million-square-foot, 15-floor, state-of-the-art facility on Cleveland Clinic Main Campus designed to elevate care for complex neurological conditions — including spine injuries, epileptic seizures, movement disorders, multiple sclerosis and stroke.

Imaging RN will provide professional nursing care to patients receiving diagnostic or therapeutic services at Cleveland Clinic's Neurological Institute. The RN will support patients before, during, and after diagnostic imaging (e.g., MRIs, CT scans, X-rays) or minimally invasive interventional radiology procedures. They will manage patient sedation, monitor vital signs, and provide education to ensure safe, effective care. This role focuses on delivering high-quality, patient-centered care, ensuring safety, comfort, and support throughout the patient's treatment journey. While critical care experience is a strong asset, candidates with solid medical-surgical backgrounds and strong critical thinking skills are also well-suited for success in this position.

Hours

4 - 10 hour day shifts (7:00am—5:00pm), requires every 3rd weekend, some holidays, and on-call rotations.

A caregiver who excels in this role will:
  • Provide nursing care to patients undergoing diagnostic or therapeutic services to hospitalized patients in various healthcare settings.
  • Assess patients, complete nursing assessments, document findings in patient records, and notify physicians of abnormal findings.
  • Perform telephone triage and call rotations.
  • Perform nursing procedures and administer treatments and medications.
  • Establish care plans in collaboration with patients, families, and the health care team.
  • Identify discharge needs and facilitate discharge planning.
  • Evaluate, initiate and maintain standards of care.
  • Educate patients and families.
  • Cover other nursing roles in the department.
Minimum qualifications for the ideal future caregiver include:
  • Graduate of an accredited school of nursing (Diploma, ADN, BSN program).
  • Current state licensure as a Registered Nurse.
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) certification through the American Heart Association (AHA) or American Red Cross.
  • In areas performing moderate sedation procedures, must have Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) through the American Heart Association (AHA) or American Red Cross within six months of employment.
  • One year of recent experience as an RN (or) Licensed RN with at least 2 years of LPN experience within the same Cleveland Clinic procedural department may substitute for the required RN experience.
Preferred qualifications for the ideal future caregiver include:
  • Two 2 years of recent RN experience.
  • Bachelor’s of Science in Nursing (BSN).
  • For Cardiac Catheterization or other related procedural areas, one year of critical care experience in a hospital setting preferred.
  • In areas operating with Peripherally Inserted Central Catheters (PICC Lines), Certified Registered Nurse Infusion (CRNI) or Vascular Access Board Certified (VA-BC) certification is preferred within three years of hire.
Physical Requirements:
  • Requires full range of body motion including handling and lifting patient, manual and finger dexterity, and eye-hand coordination.
  • Requires standing and walking for extended periods of time.
  • Requires corrected vision and hearing to normal range.
  • Requires working under stressful conditions and irregular hours.
  • Exposure to communicable diseases and/or body fluids.
  • Medium Work - Exerting 20 to 50 pounds of force occasionally, and/or 10 to 25 pounds of force frequently, and/or greater than negligible up to 10 pounds of force constantly to move objects.
  • Physical Demand requirements are in excess of those for Light Work.
Personal Protective Equipment:
  • Follows Standard Precautions using personal protective equipment as required for procedures.
Pay Range

Minimum hourly: $35.50
Maximum hourly: $55.60
