Job summary

Cleveland Clinic is seeking an Interventional Radiology RN on its Main Campus to support patients during image-guided vascular and non-vascular procedures. You will assist with monitoring, sedation, and nursing care in a high-acuity setting.

Required ADN/BSN, RN licensure in Ohio, BLS and ACLS; CRNI/VA-BC preferred within three years. Day shifts are 7:00 a.m.–7:30 p.m. with two weekend shifts in a six-week period.

Qualifications

  • RN license in state of Ohio or eligibility
  • BLS and ACLS required
  • Certification in CRNI or VA-BC preferred within 3 years in relevant areas
  • One year RN experience or 2 years LPN in same department may substitute for RN experience

Responsibilities

  • Provide nursing care to hospitalized patients undergoing diagnostic or therapeutic services.
  • Assess patients and document findings, notify physicians of abnormal results.
  • Administer medications and treatments as ordered.
  • Coordinate care plans and discharge planning.
  • Educate patients and families and ensure safety during procedures.

The Interventional Radiology RN supports patients during minimally invasive, image-guided vascular and non-vascular procedures involving the body from the neck down. This area performs a wide range of procedures including central line placement, angiograms, angioplasty/stenting, thrombolysis/thrombectomy, embolization, drain placements, biliary and nephrostomy interventions, and tumor-directed therapies. The RN provides procedural nursing support, assists with patient monitoring during procedures, administers and monitors sedation as appropriate, supports the physician and procedural team, and responds to changes in patient condition during moderate- to high-acuity cases. ED, PACU, or Critical Care experience is preferred, though other relevant RN experience will be considered.

The A caregiver in this position works days from 7:00 a.m. – 7:30 p.m. including two weekend shifts within a six-week period.

A caregiver who excels in this role will:

  • Provide nursing care to hospitalized patients undergoing diagnostic or therapeutic services in a variety of healthcare settings.
  • Assess patients, complete nursing assessments, document findings in patient records and notify physicians of abnormal findings.
  • Perform telephone triage and call rotations.
  • Perform nursing procedures and administer treatments and medications.
  • Establish care plans in collaboration with patients, families and the health care team.
  • Coordinate ongoing care, identify discharge needs and facilitate discharge planning.
  • Evaluate, initiate and maintain standards of care.
  • Assist with specialized patient care equipment as required by the clinical department and medical specialty assigned.
  • Administer medications and treatments as ordered by a physician or LIP.
  • Educate patients and families.
  • Cover other nursing roles in the department.
  • Maintain core competencies in nursing including CPR and skills labs.

Minimum qualifications for the ideal future caregiver include:

  • Graduate of an accredited school of Nursing (ADN or BSN program)
  • Current state licensure as a Registered Nurse
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) Certification through the American Heart Association (AHA) OR American Red Cross
  • Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) through the American Heart Association (AHA) or American Red Cross within the first six months of employment
  • In areas operating with Peripherally Inserted Central Catheters (PICC Lines), Certified Registered Nurse Infusion (CRNI) or Vascular Access Board Certified (VA-BC) certification is preferred within three years of hire.
  • One year of recent experience as an RN OR Licensed RN with at least 2 years of LPN experience within the same Cleveland Clinic procedural department may substitute for required RN experience.

Preferred qualifications for the ideal future caregiver include:

  • Two years of recent experience as an RN
  • Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN)
  • ICU experience

Physical Requirements:

  • Requires full range of motion, manual and finger dexterity and eye-hand coordination.
  • Requires standing and walking for extensive periods of time.
  • Requires corrected hearing and vision to normal range.
  • Requires some exposure to communicable disease or bodily fluids.
  • Medium Work - Exerting 20 to 50 pounds of force occasionally, and/or 10 to 25 pounds of force frequently, and/or greater than negligible up to 10 pounds of force constantly to move objects.
  • Physical Demand requirements are in excess of those for Light Work.

Personal Protective Equipment:

  • Follows Standard Precautions using personal protective equipment as required for procedures.

Pay Range

Minimum hourly: $35.50

Maximum hourly: $55.60
