Job summary

Texas Health and Human Services Commission (HHSC) seeks a Registered Nurse for Terrell State Hospital to provide compassionate, patient-centered care on the evening shift. This full-time role requires Texas RN licensure and CPR certification, with a minimum six months’ experience in a health-care facility.

Qualifications

• Graduation from a Nursing Program accredited by the Texas Board of Nurse Examiners required.
• Licensed to practice as a registered nurse in Texas (or with reciprocity).
• At least six months of RN experience in a health facility preferred.
• Bachelor's Degree is preferred.

Responsibilities

• Attends work regularly and may rotate shifts with overtime as needed.
• Assess health/mental status at admission/transfer and document plans in patient records.
• Coordinate staffing and patient care activities on assigned units with nurse administration.
• Facilitate smooth admissions/transfers and triage as needed.
• Follow orders and implement nursing interventions per policies.
• Provide teaching to patients about medications and illnesses.
• Apply precautions, document rights restrictions, and manage safety procedures.
• Participate in abuse/neglect processes and performance improvement teams.
