Position Summary
Baptist Health Walker Hospital
This position administers patient care in an inpatient or observation setting, providing active treatment for injuries, illnesses, medical conditions, or post-intervention assessments.
Responsibilities
Essential Functions
- Assess patient needs and develop or revise individualized care plans based on patient responses.
- Evaluate patient progress toward expected outcomes.
- Respect diversity by building respectful relationships with team members and patients.
- Act as a patient and family advocate.
- Provide age-appropriate care based on knowledge and skills for patients on the assigned unit/department.
- Serve as a preceptor, charge nurse, educator, or clinician as needed.
- Collaborate with medical staff and interdisciplinary teams for effective care planning and management.
- Model professional behavior and support hospital and nursing goals.
- Understand growth and development principles, assess patient data, and interpret information relevant to age-specific needs.
- Coordinate care and delegate tasks appropriately within the team.
- Document patient care accurately, including assessments, education, medication, treatments, and safety measures.
- Demonstrate competency in nursing skills and equipment use specific to the unit/department.
- Prioritize patient care according to Evidence-Based Practice Standards.
- Identify and resolve problems effectively.
- Delegate tasks considering patient needs and team member capabilities.
- Communicate patient condition and unit concerns clearly to team members.
- Provide compassionate and therapeutic care environments.
- Be aware of legal issues and patients' rights.
- Support new team members and students through collaboration with education and leadership teams.
- Maintain punctual attendance per policies and standards.
- Comply with all organizational policies and procedures.
Other Related Functions
- Contribute to team knowledge, skills, and quality improvement efforts.
- Participate and lead nursing practice and performance improvement committees.
- Engage in peer review, mentoring, and coaching activities.
- Use supplies efficiently and keep the work area safe and organized.
- Attend staff development, meetings, and committees.
- Partner with leadership to identify professional development needs.
- Take responsibility for ongoing professional growth and education.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
Education/Training
- Graduate of an approved nursing school.
- Meet all competency requirements for Orlando Health and the specific unit/department.
Licensure/Certification
- Current State of AL RN license or valid eNLC multistate RN license.
- Current BLS/Healthcare Provider certification.
- ACLS, NRP, PALS, TNCC certifications required for certain areas.
Experience
- Minimum of 1 year nursing experience required unless approved by AVP level or higher.
