Position Summary

Baptist Health Walker Hospital

This position administers patient care in an inpatient or observation setting, providing active treatment for injuries, illnesses, medical conditions, or post-intervention assessments.

Responsibilities

Essential Functions

  1. Assess patient needs and develop or revise individualized care plans based on patient responses.
  2. Evaluate patient progress toward expected outcomes.
  3. Respect diversity by building respectful relationships with team members and patients.
  4. Act as a patient and family advocate.
  5. Provide age-appropriate care based on knowledge and skills for patients on the assigned unit/department.
  6. Serve as a preceptor, charge nurse, educator, or clinician as needed.
  7. Collaborate with medical staff and interdisciplinary teams for effective care planning and management.
  8. Model professional behavior and support hospital and nursing goals.
  9. Understand growth and development principles, assess patient data, and interpret information relevant to age-specific needs.
  10. Coordinate care and delegate tasks appropriately within the team.
  11. Document patient care accurately, including assessments, education, medication, treatments, and safety measures.
  12. Demonstrate competency in nursing skills and equipment use specific to the unit/department.
  13. Prioritize patient care according to Evidence-Based Practice Standards.
  14. Identify and resolve problems effectively.
  15. Delegate tasks considering patient needs and team member capabilities.
  16. Communicate patient condition and unit concerns clearly to team members.
  17. Provide compassionate and therapeutic care environments.
  18. Be aware of legal issues and patients' rights.
  19. Support new team members and students through collaboration with education and leadership teams.
  20. Maintain punctual attendance per policies and standards.
  21. Comply with all organizational policies and procedures.

Other Related Functions

  1. Contribute to team knowledge, skills, and quality improvement efforts.
  2. Participate and lead nursing practice and performance improvement committees.
  3. Engage in peer review, mentoring, and coaching activities.
  4. Use supplies efficiently and keep the work area safe and organized.
  5. Attend staff development, meetings, and committees.
  6. Partner with leadership to identify professional development needs.
  7. Take responsibility for ongoing professional growth and education.
  8. Perform other duties as assigned.
Qualifications

Education/Training

  • Graduate of an approved nursing school.
  • Meet all competency requirements for Orlando Health and the specific unit/department.

Licensure/Certification

  • Current State of AL RN license or valid eNLC multistate RN license.
  • Current BLS/Healthcare Provider certification.
  • ACLS, NRP, PALS, TNCC certifications required for certain areas.

Experience

  • Minimum of 1 year nursing experience required unless approved by AVP level or higher.
