Job summary

Northwell Health in Bay Shore, NY is seeking a Registered Nurse for ICU Contract FlexStaff. You will provide comprehensive nursing care to critically ill patients in a high-pressure ICU setting, including assessment, care coordination, and patient education.

Qualifications

• Associate’s Degree in Nursing is required; Bachelor’s Degree in Nursing is preferred.
• Minimum 1-2 years of professional nursing experience in the ICU or related specialty.
• Current license to practice as a Registered Professional Nurse in New York State.
• BLS certification required, plus specialized certifications as needed.

Responsibilities

• Assess the patient’s physiologic health status.
• Conduct patient interviews and explain policies and procedures.
• Assess gastrointestinal, cardiovascular, respiratory, renal, and neurological health status.
• Determine mobility, sensory deficits, prostheses use, and skin condition.
• Assess level of pain and pain management.
• Communicate/document patient’s physiologic health status and plan of care.
• Assess patient’s psychosocial health status.
• Elicit perception of medical/nursing care and expectations.
• Identify cultural/ethnic requirements to reduce anxiety and ensure patient satisfaction.
• Develop criteria for measurement of patient outcomes.
