Cross Creek Hospital Together with Ascension Seton is seeking a Full Time Nights House Supervisor. This RN leadership role oversees nursing operations on a night shift (7p–7a) with 3 12s and every other weekend, ensuring patient safety and regulatory compliance within a psychiatric facility.

Qualifications

  • BSN preferred and active RN license in Texas.
  • Greater than 1 year of RN leadership/charge experience preferred.
  • Experience in psychiatric or recovery programs is advantageous.
  • Ability to supervise nursing operations and ensure patient safety.

Responsibilities

  • Oversee nursing operations and staffing to meet census and acuity.
  • Lead shift with focus on patient safety and service quality.
  • Enforce policies for patient and resident care delivery.
  • Ensure proper unit staffing, chart checks, MARs and logs are up to date.
  • Mentor and train staff; coordinate admissions and discharges.
  • Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams and administration to meet patient needs.

Purpose Statement

Responsible for day-to-day oversight of nursing operations of the facility and ensures staffing is adequate to provide care. When scheduled, oversees the delivery of behavioral health/nursing services in a positive, empathetic, and professional attitude toward customers at all times. As needed, collaborates with interdisciplinary treatment teams, other departments and administration to ensure that all residents’ physical, biopsychosocial, age, developmental and cultural needs are met and when they are not met, acknowledges and works to resolve customer complaints. Provide leadership to assure compliance with local, state, and federal regulations, as well as nursing practice standards. Recognizes that patient safety is a top priority.

Essential Functions
  • Anticipates and effectively manages changes in census and acuity and allocates nursing resources based on measurement of patient acuity/care needed.
  • Role models expectations related to customer service and demonstrates a sense of urgency related to the importance of patient safety.
  • Enforces and interprets policies for the delivery of patient and resident care.
  • Ensures proper staffing for each unit, keeping staff ratio, appropriate staffing for patient care needs, covering call-offs and vacation time.
  • Ensures chart checks are completed, seclusion/restraint log is up to date and nursing assessments are completed, as well as MAR’s and report sheets are kept accurate and up to date.
  • Rounds are completed at the beginning of shift and perform random audits.
  • Assists nursing leaders to make sure all staff are oriented and competent to perform required duties. May include coaching staff.
  • Provides mentoring and training as needed.
  • Assists the nursing leadership team by ensuring facility compliance with professional, regulatory and governmental standards.
  • Ensures the effective delivery of competent, compassionate and safe care by monitoring and evaluating patient care processes and outcomes on the patient care units.
  • Coordinates all care rendered to patients, including physician orders and diagnostic information, and ensures consultations are ordered.
  • Documents medical, behavioral health information and nursing care.
  • Administers medications and maintains records in accordance with company policies and procedures.
  • Assists in developing a plan of care with specific and measurable goals, objectives and interventions defining actions unique to each patient's needs. Assists in updating and revising the plan of care as goals/objectives are met or when the patient’s condition changes.
  • Prioritizes tasks and delegates staff to ensure quality patient care.
  • Leader on shift for all admissions and discharges, as well as informing physician of changes in the patient’s conditions. Adjusts staffing accordingly.
  • Utilizes administrator-on-call for situations that require additional attention.
  • Provides direct care as needed.
Other Functions

Perform other functions and tasks as assigned.

Education/Experience/Skill Requirements
  • BSN from an accredited school of nursing preferred.
  • Current registered nursing license in the state of the facility required.
  • Greater than 1 year of experience as an RN strongly preferred.
  • 1 year of experience as an RN in any setting required.
  • 1 year in psychiatric/recovery programs preferred.
  • Some experience as a charge RN or other leadership position strongly preferred.
Licenses/Designations/Certifications

Current certification or license to practice within the state where the facility is located.

CPR and de-escalation/restraint certification required (training available upon hire and offered by facility).

First aid may be required based on state or facility.
