Job summary

Heartland Hospice in Springfield, IL is seeking a licensed RN to serve as Hospice Administrator and lead our leadership team. You will oversee clinical quality, operations, and interdisciplinary teams to deliver patient-centered care.

The ideal candidate has an RN license (Associate's Degree required, BSN preferred) and 3–5 years in hospice/home care, with 1+ year of management experience. CPR and state licenses required. This is a full-time role with comprehensive benefits.

Qualifications

• Registered Nurse with Associate's Degree in Nursing required
• BSN preferred for this leadership role
• Three to five years' healthcare sales/ management experience preferred
• Minimum one year management/supervisory experience required
• Two or more years' experience in hospice/home care required
• Meets all state-specific requirements for the Administrator role
• Three years' experience in direct patient care in a clinical setting preferred
• Strong understanding of hospice regulations, compliance, and Medicare conditions of participation
• Proven ability to manage teams, budgets, and interdisciplinary operations
• Exceptional communication, organizational, and leadership skills
• Commitment to high-quality, compassionate care for patients and families
• Current license to practice nursing in the state of requested employment, if applicable
• CPR Certification
• Current automobile insurance and valid driver's license

Responsibilities

• Provides leadership for a mid-sized hospice program, accountable for clinical quality, operational performance, and census growth.
• Demonstrates commitment to quality care and service.
• Incorporates continuous quality improvement principles in day-to-day activities.
• Promotes and monitors compliance with accrediting or licensing standards.
• Uses data to manage quality.
• Ensures policies and procedures are followed.
• Keeps staff informed through meetings and open communication.
• Provides orientation and ongoing education for staff and volunteers.
• Develops and implements policies with Governing Body support.
• Manages Human Resources and supervises interdisciplinary team members.
• Collaborates with leadership to set goals and monitor progress.
• Determines qualifications and competence of employees.
• Completes performance evaluations and takes timely action.
• Manages office operations and directs teams to meet strategic goals.
• Plans and organizes tasks and resources to achieve objectives.
• Monitors safety and quality of patient care across locations.
• Assesses market opportunities for new programs and services.
• Ensures documentation and contracts for external services are maintained.
• Oversees budget and financial performance; reviews monthly bills and expenses.
• Provides safe environment for patients, staff and visitors.
• On-call and occasional visits to patient homes or facilities as needed.
