Job summary

St. Mary’s Hospital - Kankakee is seeking a Staff RN Float to deliver safe patient care across multiple units using the nursing process. You will assess, plan, implement, and evaluate care while maintaining professional standards and privacy.

You will orient quickly, communicate with physicians, and guide patient/family teaching. This role includes a sign-on bonus and a comprehensive benefits package; nights shifts are required.

Qualifications

• Current and valid state RN License.
• Current BLS certificate upon hire and maintain current.
• Current ALS certificate 30 days upon hire and maintain current.
• One year acute care experience required.
• Current PALS certificate and/or ENPC 60 days upon hire and maintain current.
• Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) preferred.
• Demonstrated ability to practice independently within 24 hours of arrival on the unit.

Responsibilities

• The Staff RN Float is responsible for the delivery of safe patient care utilizing the nursing process of assessment, planning, implementation and evaluation.
• Provides direct patient care across multiple units within credentialed competency levels, supporting coverage where demand exceeds core staffing.
• Directs and guides patient/family teaching and activities of other nursing personnel while maintaining standards of professional nursing care.
