Job summary

St. David's North Austin Medical Center in Round Rock, TX, seeks an experienced Registered Nurse for its Float Pool Medical-Surgical unit.

The RN delivers patient-centered care, collaborates with providers and care teams, and advocates for patients and families in alignment with our mission and values. The role requires compassionate, evidence-based care, adherence to nursing standards, and the ability to educate patients and families about conditions, plans, medications, and follow-up steps.

Responsibilities

• Assess the patient’s condition during admission and each scheduled shift, promptly identifying and reporting any changes in patient status.
• Perform procedures, monitoring, or other functions as ordered by the medical provider(s), and ensure thorough and timely documentation of care administration in the patient’s medical record.
• Administer prescribed medications, monitor the patient for therapeutic response, and take appropriate action in the event of an unintended response to the medication.
• Educate patients, families, and caregivers about the patient’s medical condition, treatment plan, medications, possible side effects, and follow-up measures, ensuring complete understanding by translating complex medical terminology.
