Description:Must have Level 1 trauma experience.Fifty-mile radius rule applies.No local rate available.A driver's license is required.Candidate must pass an advanced dysrhythmia exam within two attempts; passing score is 80%.If failed, candidate will be designated as Do Not Utilize (DNU) for six months.All ICU nurses will be expected to complete skills lab training for Foley catheter insertion and central line dressing changes.Travelers should have competency in maintaining sterile fields as these skills are frequently performed.ICU Float Pool staff will be floated among all ICU areas and any MedSurg/Tele units.Travelers must understand that floating is mandatory and will not have an opportunity to refuse.Ideal candidates should be well-rounded ICU nurses.Experience in a Level 1 trauma center and teaching hospital is preferred due to complexity and acuity of patients.ICU areas include general intensive care, cardiothoracic ICU, and neuro-specific ICU, with a nurse-to-patient ratio of 1:2.Telemetry ratio is 1:4.Weekend shifts will total four shifts per four-week period.Holidays will be required based on unit needs.Shifts will operate from 7 AM to 7:30 PM or 7 PM to 7:30 AM.Schedule will be provided four weeks in advance and can be changed with two weeks' notice based on hospital needs.No call required; standby response time is 30 minutes.Candidates will work with all types of respiratory support equipment and must be able to read telemetry strips.Reports will be completed at the bedside.A quality two-person skin assessment will be conducted within the first four hours of each shift.The hospital reserves the right to cancel up to four shifts during the 13-week assignment.Charting will be performed using an electronic system.
