Job summary

McLaren Health Care in Michigan is seeking a Registered Nurse First Assistant (RNFA) to support the surgical team in the operating room. The RNFA will assist with exposure, hemostasis, cannulation, closure, and other intraoperative tasks to enable the surgeon to achieve optimal patient outcomes.

The role requires an RN license in Michigan and completion of an RNFA program meeting AORN standards, or NASC/CCI certification, with at least three years of clinical experience.

Qualifications

• RNFA requires AORN-aligned program and NASC/CCI accepted certification.
• Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) required or equivalent.
• Current State of Michigan RN license and BLS/ALS as applicable.

Responsibilities

• Works with surgical team to ensure safe, efficient operations in the operating room.
• Assists with exposure, hemostasis, cannulation, closure and intraoperative tasks as directed.
• Serves as a liaison between surgeon and patient family during procedures and post-op periods.
• Participates in quality assessments and Morbidity & Mortality reviews; supports education for staff.
