A leading health organization in Grand Rapids, MI, is looking for a Registered Nurse First Assistant (RNFA) to collaborate with surgeons during surgical procedures. The ideal candidate will have a BSN, RNFA Program completion, and at least three years of perioperative nursing experience. Responsibilities include assisting in surgeries, performing wound closures, and maintaining a sterile environment. Qualifications
Must have a BSN from an accredited nursing school.
Successful completion of an RNFA Program is required.
Active Registered Nurse licensure in Michigan is necessary.
CNOR certification is mandatory.
BLS Certification from the American Heart Association is needed.
Minimum of three years in perioperative nursing is required.
Must be proficient in scrubbing and circulating.
Responsibilities
Assists with patient positioning, prepping, and draping.
Provides hemostasis under surgeon supervision.
Performs wound closures as directed by the surgeon.
Handles tissue as directed during procedures.
Applies surgical dressings and immobilizing devices.
Assists in preparing for surgical cases.
Participates in blood volume replacement or auto transfusion if needed.
Selects appropriate wound dressings.
Provides assistance for drainage systems.
Anticipates the surgeon's needs during operations.
