Job summary

Texas Children’s Hospital is seeking a Registered Nurse for the General Med/Surg unit (20WT). The role requires strong clinical skills, adaptability and teamwork to provide quality care for kidney, liver transplant, renal and GI patients on a 20-bed unit.

Candidates must hold a nursing degree, Texas license or licensure by compact, BLS, and have at least 9 months of nursing experience. Respiratory fit testing will be completed as part of the onboarding process.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in nursing or an associate’s degree, technical diploma, or current enrollment in a nursing bridge program required.
• Current licensure with the Board of Nursing for the State of Texas or Nurse Licensure Compact and BLS certification required.
• 9 months of professional nursing experience.
• Demonstrate positive interpersonal skills and effective communication.

Responsibilities

• Performs and documents assessment of patient/family in an organized manner.
• Analyzes situations, anticipates problems, and detects changes in patient status.
• Re-prioritizes and updates plan of care and communicates changes to the team.
• Participates in interdisciplinary rounds and documents in the medical record.
• Assists patients/family in implementing their role in the plan of care.
• Demonstrates willingness to acquire new knowledge and skills to improve performance.
• Participates in unit performance improvement initiatives.
