Job summary

TalentBurst, Inc. is seeking an experienced RN-ED traveler for a 16-week assignment in Sheboygan, Wisconsin. The role involves night shifts (12-hour), with weekend rotations and a focus on high-acuity trauma, stroke, and cardiac patients.

The ideal candidate will have ED experience, EPIC proficiency, and relevant certifications (BLS, ACLS, PALS). This facility offers a fast-paced environment with a 24/7 ED team and comprehensive on-site support.

Qualifications

• Minimum of 2 years with strong ED experience.
• First-time traveler: Yes, if they have EPIC experience.
• Certifications: BLS, ACLS, NIH, PALS; ENCP/TNCC preferred.

Responsibilities

• Provide ED care for adult and geriatric patients with trauma, stroke, and cardiac issues.
• Interpret cardiac rhythms and manage lines (central lines) as needed.
• Support ED operations with techs, triage, and patient handoffs according to Epic workflows.

General Information

• Beds: 24
• 5 IR over flow beds
• 20 plus hallway beds
• Avg. ED patients/day is between 90; during busy times 90 to 110

Experience: Minimum of 2 years with strong ED experience

• First-time traveler: Yes, if they have EPIC experience

Patient Types:

• 10% Behavioral Health (Adults/Peds)
• 25% Geriatrics
• 15% Pediatrics
• 50% Adult
• Trauma (elderly falls, MVAs, industrial accidents, GSW, stabbings), cardiac (STEMI, CHF), Neuro (Strokes), Respiratory (RSV, Failure, COPD), mental illness (SI), general medical

Covid & PPE:

• Conventional PPE
• N95s
• PAPRs

Patient Ratios:

• Routine Days: 1:3 (can flex to 4 to 5 during high census)
• If RN has critical care 1:2 is the norm

Required Certifications:

• BLS
• ACLS
• NIH
• PALS
• ENCP (preferred)
• TNCC (preferred)
• De-escalation training: MOAB or CPI is preferred

Skills required

Basic ED skills, stroke, trauma, splinting, and pediatric experience, chest tubes, cardiac rhythm interpretations, line managements (central lines)

• ED Techs Ratio
  • 1 tech 0700-1900
  • 1 ED tech 0900 to 2100
  • 1 HUC 0900 to 2100 (Triage Tech)
  • 1 tech 1100-2399
  • 1 tech 1400-0200
  • 2 techs 1900 to 0700
• ED techs can do: U/S guided IVs, EKG, paperwork for transfers, paging consults, calls lights
• Charge nurse: 24/7
• Triage Nurse 0900 to 2100
• Phlebotomy from lab: only for hard sticks
• ED Case Manager Mon thru Fri
• ED Physical Therapy Mon thru Fri
• Intake Counselor 24/7
• Public Safety Stationed in ED 24/7
• RT 24/7
• Hospitalist 24/7
• House Supervisor 24/7
• Surge Call Team
• Trained Forensic team specializes in rape, drugs, etc. 24/7

Charting System/Equipment:

• EPIC (required)
• Alaris
• Pyxis
• Tele monitoring at bedside/nursing station with no tele tech (small area, someone is always usually at the nurse's station)

Floating:

• (Rare) Assist other units with hard IV sticks, helping hands
• Will never have to take a patient assignment when floated outside of the ED
• Will not have to go to ED triage, unless trained to do so (must build trust with the department)

Orientation:

• 1st day: gain login access, online modules, tour of hospital, epic training
• 2nd-3rd day: unit orientation (based on comfort)

Scheduling:

• Weekend rotation: every other
• 4 weeks at a time, will receive 2 weeks prior
• Plugged in where traveler is needed
• Shift times:
  • Nights: 1845-0715
• Approve time off up to 7 days, additional days email: NM
• No on-call
• Holiday Expectations: must be available to work 2 (nights-eves; days-day of)
