Job summary

MLK Community Healthcare's Emergency Department is seeking an experienced Registered Nurse for 12-hour night shifts in Los Angeles. The Clinical Staff Nurse delivers high-quality, patient-centered care and coordinates with the ED team to manage a defined patient load. Requires California RN license, BLS, ACLS, PALS; ED experience preferred.

Qualifications

• Associate Degree in Nursing or Nursing Diploma or equivalent.
• California RN license required.
• Minimum 1 year ED nursing experience.
• BLS/ACLS/PALS certifications recommended.

Responsibilities

• Provide high-quality, patient/family-centered care in the ED.
• Coordinate care with ED team and supervise patient flow.
• Adhere to hospital policies and Watson Model of Care.

Job Description

The Clinical Staff Nurse is a skilled and experienced professional Registered Nurse (RN) responsible for excellence in the clinical practice of nursing and the management of patient care.

Reporting to the Clinical Unit Supervisor of the Emergency Department, the Clinical Staff Nurse has 12 hour accountability for organizing, planning, directing, coordinating, and providing high quality, individualized patient/family centered care based on the Watson Model of Care for a defined group of patients, including the identification and demonstration of abilities to meet special needs and considerations of Age and Population Specific awareness.

Qualifications

• Education
• Associate in Nursing, Nursing Diploma, or equivalent.
• Bachelor of Sciences degree in nursing preferred.
• Qualifications/Experience
• Minimum of one (1) year of clinical nursing experience in Emergency Department nursing. Internal candidates that have successfully completed the MLKCH Nurse Residency Program or Transition Fellows program or similar will be considered.
• Current California Nursing license.
• Basic EKG Competence
• Certification in Emergency Department Nursing preferred.
• Special Skills/Knowledge
• Bilingual skills preferred (Spanish)
• Basic computer skills
• Current Basic Life Support (BLS)
• Current Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS)
• Current Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS)
• Must complete annual Workplace Violence Prevention Program/Certificate, per hospital policy, during initial training/orientation but not to exceed 30 days from hire/transfer.
• Electronic Medical Record experience preferred
