Rutherford Regional Health System is a 143-bed acute care facility offering a broad range of inpatient and outpatient services. We are dedicated to providing high-quality, compassionate care in a professional environment through teamwork.

Position Overview: Render professional nursing care to a group of assigned patients within the hospital. Collaborate with medical staff and healthcare team members to ensure quality patient care. Perform all activities following approved policies and guidelines. Supervise and delegate duties to ancillary personnel as appropriate.

  1. Triage training, recognition of critical presentations (e.g., stroke, chest pain). Use of green/red bags.
  2. Medication reconciliation training and understanding.
  3. IV starts and blood collection.
  4. Identify and address patient/family care needs promptly. Regularly assess and reassess patients. Document responses to interventions and treatments.
  5. Initiate discharge planning through an interdisciplinary approach to meet individual patient needs.
  6. Provide patient and family education regarding hospitalization, medications, and discharge instructions, including follow-up and referrals.
  7. Practice safe medication procedures (Read Back, double checks) and document outcomes, reactions, and side effects. Complete medication reconciliation at admission, transfer, and discharge.
  8. Assist with orientation and training of team members as directed.

Qualifications:

  • Associate's Degree in Nursing required; Bachelor's preferred.
  • Critical thinking, decisive judgment, and ability to work independently.
  • Ability to work effectively under stress and take appropriate action.

Certifications:

  • Basic Life Support (BLS)
  • Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) within 3 months of hire
  • Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) within 3 months of hire
  • Handle with Care within 4 months of hire

Licenses: Current RN license in NC (including multi-state license).

Experience: 1-3 years, recent acute care preferred.
