Job summary

Carilion Roanoke Memorial Hospital in Roanoke, VA, is seeking a full-time RN for the Emergency Department for evenings and nights, including every other weekend. You will provide professional nursing care across all ages, coordinating assessment, planning, implementation, and evaluation of care with the healthcare team.

Qualifications

• Graduate of a State Board of Nursing approved program.
• Current Virginia RN license or eligibility to obtain licensure.
• AHA BLS-HCP required; ACLS/PALS/NRP may be required depending on area.
• Keyboarding skills and computer literacy; EMR experience.
• No prior experience required.

This position is located at Carilion Roanoke Memorial Hospital (CRMH) in Roanoke, VA, working full time, evening/night and every other weekend. The RN provides professional nursing care to patients across all age groups, supporting patient-centered care through assessment, planning, implementation, and evaluation of care. This role collaborates with the healthcare team to ensure safe, effective, and high-quality patient outcomes.

• Provides individualized patient care and coordinates care delivery for patients of all ages.
• Assesses, plans, implements, and evaluates patient care to achieve optimal outcomes.
• Completes and documents age-specific assessments to support development of care plans.
• Collaborates with patients, families, and interdisciplinary teams to develop and adjust care plans.
• Administers treatments and medications accurately and documents care in electronic medical records.
• Identifies and addresses patient and family education needs.
• Participates in performance improvement and quality initiatives.
• Advocates for patients and supports their rights and psychosocial needs.
• Applies knowledge of growth and development to provide age-appropriate care.
• Demonstrates clinical expertise in dynamic and changing care environments.

• Serves as a role model and supports development of peers and team members.
• Manages resources, prioritizes tasks, and adapts to changing patient care needs.

What We Require:

Education: Graduate of a State Board of Nursing approved program required.

Experience: None.

Licensure, Certification, and/or Registration: Current Registered Nurse license in the Commonwealth of Virginia required or eligibility to obtain licensure required.

Life Support: AHA BLS-HCP required. Additional certifications such as ACLS, PALS, or NRP may be required based on assigned work area.

Other Minimum Qualifications: Keyboarding skills and computer literacy required, including use of electronic medical records. For Behavioral Health roles, must demonstrate ability to safely manage disruptive or potentially violent patients.
