Corewell Health South - Lakeland Hospitals in Niles, MI, is seeking a Part-time RN for the Emergency Obsv Unit Niles. The role provides professional nursing care using the nursing process, with patient/family centered planning and education.

The RN will work day shifts from 7 a.m. to 7:30 p.m., 24 hours weekly, with every-other weekend, in a 21-bed ED/Chest Pain unit. Current MI RN license and BLS/ACLS/PALS are required; NIHSS certification desirable.

Qualifications

• Associates in Nursing
• Bachelors in Nursing within 5 years
• Graduates from a non-accredited school of nursing must have at least one year of acute care experience or two years in a licensed health care role with NCLEX.
• MI Registered Nurse (RN) license
• AHA/ARC BLS within 90 days
• NIH Stroke Certification (NIHSS) within 90 days
• AHA ACLS within 1 year
• AHA PALS within 1 year
• TNCC within 2 years

• Plan, implement, evaluate and discharge patient care.
• Involve patient/family in planning care and education.
• Document education and learning in health records.

About the Unit

We are a 21-bed Emergency Department and Chest Pain/Observation Unit. Our department is a certified stroke center and chest pain unit. We serve patients of all ages with a wide variety of complaints. Nurse to patient ratio is 1:4 (flexible depending upon acuity) in the emergency department and 5:1 in the chest pain/observation unit.

We provide both inpatient and outpatient medical services throughout Southwest Michigan.

Scope of Work

The RN, under the ANA scope of practice utilizes the framework of the nursing process to provide professional nursing care by incorporating patient-family centered care principles to assess, plan, implement, evaluate, and discharge. The RN provides quality patient care under the direction of the Nurse Leader according to Corewell Health policies and procedures and recognizes the impact of nursing care and patient/family partnerships on patient outcomes. The RN partners with and utilizes patient/family input and goals in planning plan of care and develops teaching strategies for patient/family; documents education and learning appropriately in health record.

Qualifications

• Associates in Nursing
• Bachelors in Nursing within 5 years
• Graduates from a non-accredited school of nursing must have at least one year of acute care experience or at least two years of experience in a licensed health care role and must have successfully passed the NCLEX licensure examination.
• MI Registered Nurse (RN)
• AHA or ARC Basic Life Support (BLS) within 90 days
• NIH Stroke Certification - NIHSS National Institute of Health Stroke Scale within 90 days
• AHA Adv Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) within 1 year
• AHA Pediatric Adv Life Support (PALS) within 1 year
• Trauma Nursing Core Course (TNCC) - ENA Emergency Nurses Association ER and Chest Pain Unit within 2 years
