Job summary

MercyOne in Des Moines, Iowa seeks an experienced registered nurse to lead orientation and education within the Medical Group. You will coordinate training, ensure compliance with regulatory standards, and act as a resource across departments.

Responsibilities include developing staff education programs, coordinating competency assessments, and participating in performance improvement projects while collaborating with physicians and staff to maintain high-quality care.

Qualifications

• Possession of a current or compact state license as a registered nurse issued/defined by the State of Iowa.
• Basic Life Support certification within six weeks of hire (AHA BLS for Healthcare Providers).
• Mandatory Reporter abuse training completed within three months of hire.

Responsibilities

• Maintains orientation program current with standards of clinical practice in the Medical Group setting.
• Acts as liaison between new staff, current employees and the Director.
• Develops and coordinates educational activities, including continuing education and staff orientation to new equipment/procedures.
• Provides guidance on policies, procedures, regulatory requirements (Joint Commission, OSHA).
• Supports professional development of staff and mentors preceptors.
• Participates in Performance Improvement projects and department committees.
• Coordinates BLS, ACLS and PALS training for department staff.
• Manages competency evaluation plans for Medical Group staff.
• Performs procedures with high visibility and interaction with staff and physicians.
• Contributes to development and review of clinical policies and procedures.

Education

Bachelor's degree preferred
